We just purchased a Lipper International Bamboo Mug Tree and Francois et Mimi Set of 6 Large-sized 16 Ounce Ceramic Coffee Mugs from Amazon. Don’t let the titles fool you, they aren’t that fancy. But, if you are going to do something, do it right.

Why is one Right and the other Fail? Perhaps I don’t understand because I’m not a big mug person…

It is all about the “symmetry”. The example on the left shows all the cups facing the same way (mouths open to the right). The example on the right shows some cups facing right, and others facing left, messing with the whole feng shui of it. Its sort of like hanging your toilet paper dispensing from the bottom instead of the top. There are two ways to do it, but only one way is right. 😉
I’m with you on this, Zach. The picture on the left is peaceful and serene while the one on the right makes it difficult to breathe. The fact that the subject in the “fail” image is slightly off-center revealing a telephone cord and other distractions in the left side of the frame renders the arrangement downright painful to observe. Thank you for including the “Doing it Right” image alongside so relief is only a glance to the left away… ahhh.
